About Welwyn VILLAGE F.C.

Welwyn Village FC (Formally WSSC FC) was formed in the 2021/2022 season as an over 35s mens team. Put together by a group of individuals who wanted to create a club that was competitive but social. We had the makings of a great club and would regularly get 14/16 players each week during our first season. It was tough creating a new team and we finished bottom of the league playing our “home” games in W.G.C. at Gosling Stadium.

After a successful pre-season at the start of the 2022/2023 season we had additional players and decided to create a reserve side. Codicote Vets were struggling for players and a merger of the two teams took place creating Welwyn Village FC & Welwyn Village FC Reserves. A new yellow kit was purchased by the players which has given us our new nickname “The Minions”. The 22/23 season saw the club grow from strength to strength and created a great atmosphere which was carried across both teams. This is testament to all the managers and players who have created such a great vibe. 

With help from Welwyn Parish Council and the Hertfordshire F.A. a pitch was made for the 2022/2023 season on the playing fields Ottway Walk for Welwyn Village FC to play on. In the 2022/2023 season the 1st team made it to the clubs first final, unfortunately the result didn't go our way on the night. But we took around 50 fans on a coach to watch the game.

In the 2023/2024 season we added another team to make 3 teams all competing in the Herts Vets Super League. The teams were renamed Yellow, Blue & Green. This year the Blue's made a Cup Final but were edged out in a close game with Walkern. 

For the 2024/2025 Season we changed our name to Welwyn Village F.C. to reflect the support we receive from the Village, especially Welwyn Festival who have helped us over the years. The Yellows will be competing in the Premiership with the Blues & Yellows competing in the Championship of the Herts Vets Super League. We will also have an over 45s team competing in a cup and are looking to start an over 35s team in a league on Sunday afternoons. We have also gained out first shirt sponsor, a big thank you to Base Concrete for supporting the Club.
